    I came across this photograph somewhere and it reminded me of Nevada, where I lived for 25 years. I like the contrast between the pattern in the rock and the luminescence of the flowers. It's clear in the photo that the picture was taken near sunrise; I'm not quite sure I captured that light in the painting.

    This painting is about as close as I get to representational. It's my opinion that cameras do a wonderful job of capturing the physical world and the artist's job is to capture the non-physical as much as possible.
